Master Thesis: Novel ‘Green’ Microcapsules for Lipstick Applications
Microencapsulation has profound applications towards cosmetics research and product development. Despite numerous applications targeting a wide array of cosmetics products, and high necessity, this technology has not yet been successfully established towards lipstick applications, attributing to several challenges. Are you strongly motivated to contribute to the fascinating domains of microencapsulation and cosmetics product R&D?
LSTM invites applications for one Master’s Thesis position focused on the development and characterization of extremely novel, natural polysaccharide-based microcapsules for lipstick applications.
Research activities:
As a Master Thesis candidate, your daily research activities and experience include:
Preparation of microcapsules: Synthesizing microcapsules containing vitamin C via complex coacervation technique via double emulsions. High-throughput characterization: Conducting advanced tests to evaluate the optical, thermochemical and mechanical properties of lipsticks containing microcapsules. Data Analysis: Analyzing experimental data to draw meaningful conclusions and contribute to the understanding of encapsulation technology in the scientific community.
Profound industrial applications: Successful establishment and market launch of natural ingredient based lipsticks with a robust encapsulation system for thermolabile bioactive agents will open doors towards its widespread adoption in cosmetics industries in the EU region as well as globally. This in turn presents potential opportunities for interested students in local as well as globally recognized cosmetics companies such as Beiersdorf, L’Oréal, Givaudan, Chanel, Proctor & Gamble, Unilever, amongst others.
What we offer:
- Access to advanced laboratory setups and state-of-the-art equipment: Differential Scanning Calorimetry, standard rotational and narrow-gap rheometers, Raman and UV-VIS spectrometers, Franz cell diffusion, polarized light optical microscopy.
- Supervision and guidance from world renowned and highly experienced researchers.
- An opportunity to contribute to revolutionary cosmetics/materials research with significant industrial applications.
What are we looking for?
